If you make tacos a lot, then you might be inclined to buy a taco seasoning. But, you can make this simple taco seasoning recipe instead. And, you’ll have the best organic taco seasoning on hand at all times!
Growing up in the Midwest, tacos were not very common, not as common as they are here in California. I could tell you of only one time my family and I went out to Mexican food while living in Chicago, and I lived there for ten years! Maybe it was just that my parents didn’t introduce me to it, or maybe it wasn’t as common, I don’t know.
But I do know that on the rare nights my mom did make tacos, she used a taco seasoning packet. And there was something in that spice mix that I just didn’t like, or she used too much, I’m not sure. So, it made me think for a long time that I just didn’t like tacos!
Flash forward to being 25 years old and enjoying my first real authentic street tacos! Now, Delaney and I make tacos all the time! They are one of my favorite foods, and I make all different varieties besides Mexican. Check out my Mae Ploy Chicken Soft Tacos recipe and my Leftover Breakfast Tacos! However, we do make our classic Garlic Lime Chicken Tacos on the regular.
But, lately I’ve been wanting to make a simple taco seasoning recipe that I can have in my spice cabinet. This way I have a simple taco seasoning on hand at all times – it just makes it easier to whip up some tacos. So, I made the best organic taco seasoning (at least that’s what I think!).
So, if you want to make your own taco seasoning or if you run out and are looking for a simple taco seasoning recipe then this one is it! This is a mild taco seasoning, which is what I like. It tastes delicious on chicken, carne asada, and carnitas – which is what we usually make. Get my recipe for the best organic taco seasoning, and use this on any taco meat you’d like.
Why go organic?
You may be wondering why I push organic ingredients for everything, even savory and healthy dishes. Organic ingredients go beyond just health and wellness, and contribute so much to the taste and flavor of a recipe. So, if you think that you’re making something healthy and buying fruits, veggies, or meats so maybe you don’t need to spend the extra to go organic here – let me sway your thinking.
Organic ingredients are made in a more pure way, therefore using no additives, no GMOs, and minimal ingredients. This really allows the true ingredients to shine – and because of that their flavor shines through. Therefore, organic ingredients are more flavorful than their non organic counterparts. So, just because it’s already a healthy recipe, or you’re already buying good for you ingredients – it doesn’t mean you can skip organic! Trust me here, and make the switch. Your body and your taste buds will thank you!
So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here. Tip – hover over each ingredient to see the name. And if you want to learn more about organic foods and the difference, read my post here on Food Labels and What They Mean.
