Why You'll Love This Recipe
Did you eat Worms in Dirt growing up? Depending on where you grew up, you may or may not have eaten this silly but so delicious dessert. And depending on where you had it, you may think of it in a different way.
They served this to kids at our country club growing up, so it was always something that was a special treat for us as it was the only place we ever ate it! But it was definitely not organic Worms in Dirt! Gummy worms are full of artificial colors, and pudding mix (even chocolate) can also have artificial colors! Why I’m not sure, but it does.
So today I am sharing a homemade Worms in Dirt recipe with you guys. This is an organic Worms in Dirt recipe that you can feel good about sharing with your kids. Plus, take a bite and I’m sure you will feel nostalgic eating this delicious dessert!
I use Black Forest Organic Gummy Worms which have no artificial colors and are colored with vegetables. They are really good gummy worms and they taste just like the classics that are full of all the bad stuff. I use my From Scratch Chocolate Pudding recipe in this organic Worms in Dirt recipe. And, to top it off, I use Newman’s Own O’s for this entirely organic Worms in Dirt!

Why Organic
Why use organic ingredients in this recipe? You all know I’m a huge organic advocate, and I bet you may be thinking sometimes, Why would I even bother to use organic ingredients in something that is so sweet and indulgent? But, that is the exact reason why you should use organic ingredients! Sweet things need to have flavor in order to be good, otherwise they are just sweet and they don’t taste like much else. Organic ingredients are more pure than conventional ones, therefore they actually have more flavor than the non organic options. Say it with me, organic means more flavor! And not just more flavor but a more true and pure flavor. And organic ingredients are much healthier for you to eat in general as they do not contain GMOs or anything artificial. Plus, you are being environmentally friendly when you choose organic ingredients!
So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here.
