Homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix

If you’re looking for a super easy DIY Christmas gift, then this homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix is just what you need! I am giving most of my clients my homemade Brown Butter Butterscotch Sauce for gifts this year.

However, I do have a couple people on my list that are vegan. Therefore, I can’t give them my Brown Butter Butterscotch Sauce as a gift because they wouldn’t be able to enjoy it! So, I had the idea to make this homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix.

Everyone is familiar with Pumpkin Pie Spice or Pumpkin Spice. And recipes will call for this mix all the time. Yet, no one really talks about gingerbread spice – and most recipes will just call for the actual spices.

But I thought this homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix was such a cute idea. This easy DIY Christmas gift is perfect for anyone who loves to bake or just loves gingerbread. You can use this homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix in recipes for cookies, cakes, or breads. You can also use in your coffee or hot chocolate. And you can even use it in French toast, pancakes, or even as a toast topper!

How to Make Homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix

Step 1

You add all the spices into a bowl together and mix them up. This is so easy! If you have kids, this can be a great recipe to make with kids as they can easily help.

My recipe weighs the spices, but the main thing is that this recipe calls for equal parts of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. So, if you don’t have a scale then you can use a tablespoon measurement and add 2 heaping tablespoons of each spice.

To make more jars, then you can double or triple the recipe and use a large bowl.

Step 2

Use a small funnel and add the spice mix into spice jars.

Step 3

Label the spice jars with “Gingerbread Spice Mix” and add labels on. I like to do a top label and a front label if I’m gifting these, as you never know how people have their spice cabinets organized. But one label will also be just fine!

You can add up all those spices (for example, if a recipe like my Frosted Gingerbread Cookies – this calls for 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Why Organic

Why use organic ingredients in this recipe? You all know I’m a huge organic advocate, and I bet you may be thinking sometimes, Why would I even bother to use organic ingredients in something that is so sweet and indulgent? But, that is the exact reason why you should use organic ingredients! Sweet things need to have flavor in order to be good, otherwise they are just sweet and they don’t taste like much else. Organic ingredients are more pure than conventional ones, therefore they actually have more flavor than the non organic options. Say it with me, organic means more flavor! And not just more flavor but a more true and pure flavor. And organic ingredients are much healthier for you to eat in general as they do not contain GMOs or anything artificial. Plus, you are being environmentally friendly when you choose organic ingredients!

So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here. Tip – hover over each ingredient to see the name. And if you want to learn more about organic foods and the difference, read my post here on Food Labels and What They Mean.
