Healthy Orange Julius

If you loved Orange Julius growing up, then you will love this Healthy Orange Julius recipe! Orange Julius is a well known sweetened smoothie that is orange flavored. If you didn’t have them growing up, then you’re in for a treat now as these are just as good as the original, but so much healthier for you!

If you liked my Mango Berry Smoothie or my Rainbow Smoothie Bowl, then you are going to love this recipe too as this is a mainly fruit smoothie, which are my favorite kind! I’ve taken the traditional flavor of Orange Julius and recreated it with healthy for you ingredients like fruit and yogurt. This smoothie is packed with nutrients and also some protein thanks to the yogurt. This Healthy Orange Julius can double as a breakfast or snack.

Ingredients for Healthy Orange Julius

Organic Oranges
I use fresh oranges along with orange zest to get that truly orange flavor.

Organic Bananas
I use organic bananas to get the texture of this smoothie right. Because we’re not looking for a lot of banana flavor in this recipe, stay away from overly ripe or browned or blackened bananas as those will have so much more banana flavor than a yellow banana.

Organic Vanilla Yogurt
I use organic vanilla yogurt in this recipe for texture and also flavor! The vanilla yogurt is important for flavor, so don’t use plain yogurt here. I love Stonyfield Organic Vanilla Yogurt.

Organic Frozen Mango
Frozen mango is super important here as the frozen mango provides the texture for this smoothie. So, don’t use fresh mango as we do want it to be frozen. I buy organic frozen mango at Costco all the time for smoothies so I always have it in my freezer.

Why Organic

Why use organic ingredients in this recipe? You all know I’m a huge organic advocate, and I bet you may be thinking sometimes, Why would I even bother to use organic ingredients in something that is so sweet and indulgent? But, that is the exact reason why you should use organic ingredients! Sweet things need to have flavor in order to be good, otherwise they are just sweet and they don’t taste like much else. Organic ingredients are more pure than conventional ones, therefore they actually have more flavor than the non organic options. Say it with me, organic means more flavor! And not just more flavor but a more true and pure flavor. And organic ingredients are much healthier for you to eat in general as they do not contain GMOs or anything artificial. Plus, you are being environmentally friendly when you choose organic ingredients!

So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here.
