Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Summer isn’t complete unless you’ve made Grilled BBQ Chicken at least a dozen times. Have you used your grill yet? If not, this is your reminder! So today I’m sharing a super basic recipe for Grilled BBQ Chicken. We make this recipe all the time during the summer months, and it’s just so simple and so delicious!

You can use any kind of BBQ sauce you like, but I am going to share my favorite with you. The one we use all the time is Kinder’s Organic Mild BBQ Sauce. I always have this BBQ sauce in my fridge. I love Kinder’s, they make really good organic sauces and spices. I’m always happy with their products, and they have so many organic options. If you haven’t tried their products before, I highly recommend it. But, if you like spicy or like to use a specific BBQ sauce, you can use any kind of BBQ sauce with this recipe.

I also use Butcher Box Chicken Drumsticks for this recipe, as they have free-range organic chicken drumsticks. I usually buy Organic Prairie meat, but they don’t offer drumsticks! So, I have to get them elsewhere and I like the Butcher Box Chicken Drumsticks. I always like to have meat in my freezer so it’s easy to cook dinners at home. Try them out, I’m sure you’ll love them too! And try making my Brioche Buns so you have an easy summer dinner with chicken, rolls and fresh fruit!

Why go organic?

You may be wondering why I push organic ingredients for everything, even savory and healthy dishes. Organic ingredients go beyond just health and wellness, and contribute so much to the taste and flavor of a recipe. So, if you think that you’re making something healthy and buying fruits, veggies, or meats so maybe you don’t need to spend the extra to go organic here – let me sway your thinking.

Organic ingredients are made in a more pure way, therefore using no additives, no GMOs, and minimal ingredients. This really allows the true ingredients to shine – and because of that their flavor shines through. Therefore, organic ingredients are more flavorful than their non organic counterparts. So, just because it’s already a healthy recipe, or you’re already buying good for you ingredients – it doesn’t mean you can skip organic! Trust me here, and make the switch. Your body and your taste buds will thank you!

So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here. Tip – hover over each ingredient to see the name. And if you want to learn more about organic foods and the difference, read my post here on Food Labels and What They Mean.

Grilled BBQ Chicken

Recipe by MimiDifficulty: Easy
Makes

servings

This easy Grilled BBQ Chicken recipe is one you can make over and over again. I love using Kinder’s Organic Mild BBQ Sauce, but you can use any kind of BBQ sauce you like!

Directions

  • In a large bowl, add the drumsticks and BBQ sauce and toss to coat completely.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and allow to marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Heat grill to 350°F. We have a Monument Grills 4 Burner Gas Grill, so what I do is turn on all four burners, this helps heat the entire grill.
  • Put chicken on, and then I turn the burner directly under the chicken down to low heat. Leaving additional burners (not under chicken) medium to keep the grill around 350°F to 375°F. This prevents the chicken from burning, but still allowing for a nice char, and cooking thoroughly.
  • Continue to cook for 30 to 40 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165°F.
  • Remove from the grill, cover with a piece of foil until ready to serve.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • High Altitude – Follow the recipe as noted.
