Chocolate Coconut Water

So, I have been obsessed with the Zico Chocolate Coconut Water since it came out years ago. Recently, it has been impossible to find in stores or even online, trust me I have scoured the internet (and this was way before the pandemic). I can’t even get it from my organic supplier at the bake shop. And this is the only coconut water I really enjoy. Since I haven’t had it since last summer, I’ve found the Zico Organic Pineapple Mango Coconut Water is the next best thing. This fruity option is really good! But, they don’t always have the fruity one at the market up here either! So it’s very frustrating for someone who likes to have coconut water on hand in my fridge all the time.

I turned one of my friends onto each of these coconut waters, only for us to both be disappointed together when we can’t buy them in town. This is one of the downfalls of living in a small town, sometimes there is only one place in town that sells something you want, and when they are out there are no other options. So, I finally created a recipe for my own Chocolate Coconut Water, and it tastes exactly like the Zico one! The best part, you can use a subpar coconut water (one that you might not always love to drink) to make it and it still tastes amazing! It’s so easy to make and you can have your own organic coconut water on hand at all times.

Why Organic

Why use organic ingredients in this recipe? You all know I’m a huge organic advocate, and I bet you may be thinking sometimes, Why would I even bother to use organic ingredients in something that is so sweet and indulgent? But, that is the exact reason why you should use organic ingredients! Sweet things need to have flavor in order to be good, otherwise they are just sweet and they don’t taste like much else. Organic ingredients are more pure than conventional ones, therefore they actually have more flavor than the non organic options. Say it with me, organic means more flavor! And not just more flavor but a more true and pure flavor. And organic ingredients are much healthier for you to eat in general as they do not contain GMOs or anything artificial. Plus, you are being environmentally friendly when you choose organic ingredients!

Chocolate Coconut Water

This refreshing chocolate coconut water is one you’ll want to have in your fridge at all times. The creamy, chocolatey, and coconut flavor hits all the right notes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups organic unsweetened vanilla coconut milk

  • 21 grams (1 1/2 tablespoons) organic cane sugar

  • 10 grams (2 tablespoons) organic Dutch cocoa

  • pinch of fine sea salt

  • 11 ounces organic coconut water

Directions

  • In a small saucepan, add the coconut milk, cane sugar, and cocoa powder. Heat until it reaches 140°F and the cocoa and sugar are completely combined. Remove from heat.
  • Add in the coconut water and stir to combine completely. Place in the fridge for at least 4 hours or until cold.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
