Hot chocolate is one of my all time favorite drinks! It brings back so many memories of the holidays. And going to the pumpkin patch was always one of the first times I had hot chocolate each year as it was right when the weather was changing and cooling down.
Now that I’m older and have created so many different hot chocolate recipes, I like to mix it up during this time of year. Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate is in season now at Dessert’D and if you’re looking for a little something extra, I’ve created this Boozy Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate recipe that is perfect to make for a cool fall night. You can drink it plain, or top it with whipped cream and marshmallows!
Boozy Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
2 cups organic milk
14 grams (1 1/2 tablespoons) organic milk chocolate, chopped
14 grams (1 tablespoon) organic cane sugar
1/4 teaspoon organic pumpkin spice (like Frontier Co-Op)
3 ounces bourbon (2 shots)
Organic Whipped Cream (recipe can be found in The Mountain Baker)
Organic Vanilla Bean Marshmallows (recipe can be found in The Mountain Baker)
Organic cinnamon stick, for garnishSprinkle of pumpkin spice
Add the milk, milk chocolate, cane sugar, and pumpkin spice to a 2-quart pot and put over high heat. Add in the drink thermometer. Whisk until all ingredients are combined and the chocolate and sugar has melted completely. Continue to whisk until it reaches 140°F to 160°F. Remove from heat.
In two mugs, add 1 1/2 ounces (1 shot) of bourbon into each. Pour hot chocolate over top.
Add desired toppings.
